CHHA Qualifications
The New Jersey Board of Nursing establishes the curriculum for the Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) training course. It consists of a 76 hour core curriculum, 60 hours of classroom instruction and 16 hours of clinical training in a skills laboratory.

- Body systems and related care
- Dementia/Alzheimer's disease
- Home care considerations
- Mental illness/developmental disabilities
- Personal care of adults
- Role of the aide in nursing care settings
- Safety in home
- Time management
- Ability to read and write English
- Age 18 years or older
- Completed Home Health Aide training course application
- Payment of the $150 course fee prior to the first day of class
- Personal interview with a Freedom Eldercare training supervisor
- U.S. citizenship or authorization to work in the United States
- Able to accept supervision
- Emotional maturity
- Flexibility
- Genuine concern for the elderly
- Good communication skills
- Good personal hygiene
- Reliability
- Tolerant of differences in others
- Willing to give of oneself
